The Child

What is ICF?

The Indian Children's Fund (ICF) is a non-profit organisation concerned with helping children in India.
  • ICF is an independent organisation dedicated to the cause of deprived children. Children who have been denied their right to childhood - living on streets and railway platforms, working in hazardous, exploitative conditions, girl children, children who are sex workers, basically children who do not have a future to look forward to.

  • ICF tries to restore to these vulnerable children their basic rights to food, shelter, health, education, and a future.

  • ICF acts as a link between people who have the resources of money, skills, materials, or time and development workers who need these resources to work with deprived children so as to help these children realise their full potential.

  • ICF is not affiliated to any political or religious organisations. It does not have any preferences based on political or religious grounds while selecting partner projects.

  • ICF also attempts to make people responsible for the situation of the deprived child and to motivate them to collective action to change the situation, thereby giving themselves and the child an opportunity to realise their full potential.

Aims of ICF
We firmly believe that the miserable conditions, a majority of children on the Indian subcontinent live in, MUST be changed.

Our goals are:
  • Freedom to have a real childhood for all child-labourers .
  • Education for all children so they can build a future for themselves and generations to come.
  • Adequate food, clothing and shelter.
  • Hygienic living conditions.

The ICF Team
ICF started out of a few peoples desire to help the millions of kids in India who have not been as fortunate as ourselves. The very things we take for granted are the things millions of children in India will never have the chance to experience. It takes so little to make a difference to the lives of these children.

Not content to just give personal financial support this group of people decided to mobilise support and raise awareness in the Australian community by forming the Indian Children's Fund.

ICF works by using the expertise of all it's volunteers. It harnesses the skills of all its volunteers to carry out the various functions of a charity. We have an accountant who gives her time to do the accounts of ICF, a computer and a design expert who give their time to design ICF's web pages, a budding journalist who writes articles for ICF, a lawyer who looks after our legal interests, and many other people with a little time on their hands who help out in other ways. This way ICF gives people a chance to use their skills in a way that is beneficial to the millions of deprived children in India. There is immense satisfaction in this.

Please contact us if you would like to join the ICF family. We would love our family to grow.
